Canadian Dental Care Plan
The new Canadian Dental Care Plan is here!
What the CDCP Means for You at One Marine Dental
By far the biggest news of 2024 in the dental community, the Federal Government has introduced a new dental program aimed to ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for eligible Canadian residents.
The Federal Government is rolling this new program in phases. The first phase is being rolled out for seniors across the country. By the end of this month, we will see some children as well as adults with disabilities being eligible for the CDCP. The rest of the population who qualifies will have access to the CDCP starting in 2025. Plan details are evolving. To learn all the details as they stand today, click the link below.
Am I Eligible for the CDCP?
Currently, seniors must meet the following conditions to qualify:
- Having NO access to any other dental insurance benefits (with the exception of certain government social programs)
- Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000
- Be a Canadian citizen for tax purposes
- Have filed your tax return in the previous year
- For families, both spouses or common-law partners need to fulfill these conditions
Do you qualify?
What Services Are Covered?
To maintain healthy teeth and address potential issues, the CDCP covers a range of oral health care services up to a predetermined amount by the government. These services include preventive (dental cleaning), diagnostic (X-rays & exams), restorative (fillings), endodontic (root canals), prosthodontic, periodontal, and oral surgery services. Please note, this plan does not cover at the moment comprehensive treatments such as dental crowns and implants.
One Thing to Keep in Mind!
This program does not guarantee free dental care. This is often a misconception. In fact, eligible patients seeking dental services under the CDCP program are likely to be responsible for a co-payment (i.e., the difference between the value of the dental services received and the amount covered under the CDCP program).
Is One Marine Dental Accepting Patients Under the CDCP?
Yes! We are happy to announce our participation and see patients who have CDCP benefits. Our aim is to service eligible patients and help process their CDCP claim and benefits under the new program, and our fees will continue to be aligned with the Ontario Dental Association fee guide to maintain the same quality of care that we provide to all our patients.
Don’t forget to bring your member card issued by the Federal Government to your appointment. On the day of your appointment, we will:
- Confirm your eligibility prior to the treatment
- Confirm your coverage and inform you of any out-of-pocket amount prior to the treatment
